Dunoyer de Segonzac (1884-1974)

Born July 7, 1884 at Boussy Saint-Antoine (Essonne). Died September 17, 1974 in Paris.
 In 1900 he was a pupil free of the Beaux-Arts in Paris.
 In 1903, he entered the private studio of Luc-Olivier Merson.
 In 1907 he was a pupil of Jean-Paul Laurens, attended the Academy "Palette in Montparnasse, met Luc-Albert Moreau and Boussignault with whom he shared a studio.
 His first drawings were published in 1908 in the "grand review" and "Witness."
 The same year he began exhibiting at the Salon d'Automne and the Salon des Artistes Indépendants.
 Almost indifferent to contemporary aesthetic revolutions, it began with Boussignault and Moreau, to resurrect the realism of Courbet running still lifes, nudes, landscapes, to a thick paste and masonry.
 From this period, renting a house owned by Signac, he discovers the countryside of Saint-Tropez, which he remained faithful and where he lived until the end of his life. However, staying there that preferentially in the summer for the rest, instead he took a real nomadic life in search of above ground through the islands of France, the Grand Valley Morin Feucherolles, Chennevières ect.
 In 1910, he knew the couturier Paul Poiret and met Max Jacob, Dufy, Vlaminck.
 From 1910 to 1914, he traveled to Italy, Spain, North Africa, he became interested in sport and dance (drawings of Russian Ballet Isodore Duncan, 1911, The Boxer 1910).
 From 1914 to 1918, drafted into the infantry, he made war harshly, before being assigned to camouflage. It performs many drawings of war, valuable for their artistic and documentary value.
 Since 1919 he is back in numerous exhibitions, including the main lounge Parisians. It appears that early post-war as the main representative of traditional realism.

 1921, he met Valéry, Léon-Paul Farges, Jean Cocteau
 1928, he made a trip to America where he meets a great success.
 1930, he became friends with Derain.
 1933 Award of Carnegie Foundation Pittesburgh
 1934 Prize of the Biennale of Venice
 1938, he exhibited in Chicago
 1939, he exhibited in London at the Wildenstein gallery;
 1947 he was elected to the Royal Academy in London
 1948 he was elected an Associate of the Royal Academy of Belgium
 exhibition at the Galerie Charpentier in Paris followed by another in Basel.
 1951 exhibition at the Musée d'Art et d'Histoire of Geneva.
 1959 exhibition at the Royal Academy in London
 1969 exhibition at Galerie Vallotton Lausanne.
 1972 Galerie Durand-Ruel Paris.

 After his death began the posthumous retrospective

 1975, Musée de l'Athénée in Geneva.
 1976 retrospective at the Orangerie de Tuileries in Paris.
