Albert Cresswell (1879-1936) Nymph and satyr Pastel on paper, signed lower left 21x44cm Albert Cresswell (1879-1936) Born in Paris, Painter of mythological subjects, genre scenes, portraits, landscapes. Pupil of Louis Boulanger (1806-1867), Luc Olivier Merson (1846-1920) and especially of Jules Joseph Lefebvre (1834-1912), born in Tournan-en-Brie, Professor at the School of Fine Arts in Paris and at the Académie Julian, considered one of the representatives of academic art in France. He took part in the "Salon de Paris" from 1880 to 1929, obtaining several awards, including an honorable mention in 1892 and a third medal in 1907.
