Commode Suedoise, XVIII

Rare chest of drawers with double movement, crossbow and strongly curved on all sides. It opens with four drawers in three rows separated by visible crosspieces. Built on a thick oak frame, it has a rich contrasting decoration of rosewood marquetry in rosewood and stained wood frames forming large friezes of three colors. An astonishing decoration made up of four rosewood lozenges cut using the so-called "standing wood" cutting technique (veneer cut perpendicular to the grain of the tree allowing the concentric growth lines of the wood to be highlighted), embellishes Both sides. The horizontal veneer of the front uprights accentuates the very pronounced curve of the whole. Sainte-Anne gray marble top, molded with a bec-de-corbin. Pull handles, keyholes, in chiseled bronze in the French style. Swedish or northern German work, from the middle of the 18th century. Very good original condition. Condition report and additional photographs on request. Height: 84 cm Width: 102 cm Depth: 52 cm
