Grooved Sainte-Anne gray marble top. Stamp of J. Joseph GENGENBACH dit CANABAS (171261797), German cabinetmaker, he moved to Paris in the early 1740s, then married in 1745. He worked for a long time as a privileged worker on Rue de Charonne for the workshops of Jean-François Oeben T DE Pierre Migeon , before gaining mastery on April 1, 1766. A specialist in small mahogany furniture, he is recognized for the perfection of his cabinetmaking and the exceptional quality of the mahogany he uses.
